The World's Most Photogenic Family

Here's one thing I love about photography: I get to spend time with some of the world's most amazing people! This is one of my very favorite families, and taking pictures for them is truly a treat. I've never posted this many pictures of one family before on the blog preview, but there were just too many to choose from. Seriously, these are the most photogenic people I've ever seen!

I had to include this last one lest you all start to think they're too perfect. Yes, the baby does cry, but she's awfully cute even when she's crying!

4 kids in 6 years...

This was a weekend of firsts for me....the first time I experienced the cicada invasion everyone has been talking about, the first time I photographed a family with 4 kids, and the first time I met someone who actually eloped to Vegas. That's right, Audrey and Shaun eloped to Vegas. Now, 6 years later, here they are with their 4 kids, all under the age of 5...

This family definitely wins the award for having the most fun during a photo shoot...

After our time together, all 4 kids were covered in dirt from playing in the creek, and I think I had as much fun watching them as they had playing. The parents were good sports, and the kids did a great job putting up with having a camera in their face for an hour and a half. How could life not be super fun with 4 small kids around?! They all were great!

I love this family!

Last weekend I got to take pictures of a good friend (who happens to be one of my favorite people in the world) and her super fun family. We talked for a while about the perfect location for them. We thought about a creek, a field of wildflowers, a park...but in the end she chose Bicentennial Mall by the Capitol Building because, in her words, "We're urban people, after all." This was a new challenge for me, but challenge is good.

Shed a Little Light...

I love to do simple, classic portraits of kids. I prefer to use natural light, but our house just doesn't have a room with perfect lighting. The room I usually use works fairly well, but if it's at all cloudy or overcast, there's not enough light to pull off a great picture. For months now I've been dreaming about having a lighting kit to supplement the natural light in our house. This week I finally got one. Today was a very cloudy, gray day - a perfect chance to try out the new light set. So I set it up and recruited my favorite baby model, and here's what I got. I'm so excited that now I can still take pictures even on a cloudy, dreary day!

Babies

This is a slideshow of some of my favorite shots I've taken of babies. I guess you could call it my "baby portfolio." Be warned - there are a disproportionate amount of pictures of my own baby boy. Maybe that's because he's my favorite baby. Or maybe because he's the baby that happens to be around the most when I have my camera. It's a good thing he's cute!
